Oxfordshire

Bicester Shopping Village

Oxfordshire is a rural retreat, known worldwide for its beauty, character and charm. It has a diverse mix of cities, towns and villages nestled in amongst its areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and you will find everything from local country pubs to internationally renowned Universities hidden somewhere within the county.

One of Oxfordshire’s most famous attractions is the city of Oxford, a historical destination that is home to a wide range of attractions. A landmark site for the city is, of course, the University, the oldest in the English speaking world. Christchurch College in particular is a favourite site for visitors, being the largest of the Oxford Colleges and having recently been filmed for some of the Harry Potter movies. Whilst in town you can also try punting on the river Thames or just spending time relaxing in one of its many café’s.

For the more active visitor, Oxfordshire offers some stunning scenery which proves to be a great backdrop for any walking, cycling or horse riding. You will find the county home to the beautiful Oxfordshire Cotswolds, North Wessex Downs and the Chilterns, which are all officially recognised as Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and therefore perfect places for exploration.

Be sure not to miss out on Blenheim Palace, birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill whilst in the area. Its gardens, landscaped by Capability Brown, are certainly a sight worth seeing and the house itself is steeped in history so definitely worth a visit.
