Archaeological dig in Faversham

Voted ‘Best market town in Kent’ by Country Life Magazine, Faversham is a destination that exudes old world charm.   

Found in the North of the county, between the stunning natural landscapes of the Downs and Kent Mashes, it is a town steeped in history with no less than 475 listed properties. Many of the English historical eras, can be found represented throughout the area, with some buildings dating back to the Medieval period. Guided town walks are run throughout the summer and will talk you through the town’s vibrant past. 

Faversham also holds a great significance in the world of brewing with one of the landmark attractions being Shepherd Neame Brewery, Britain’s oldest Brewer. Beer has been produced there for over 850 years and the brewery is still operational today. There is also a colourful and musical Hop Festival, which is held annually to commemorate all those that used to work on the hop fields.  

Other attractions in the area include Mount Ephraim Gardens and Brogdale Horticultural Trust. Brogdale can boast the greatest variety of fruit trees in the world – a spectacular site when they are all in Blossom and Mount Ephraim is nine acres of peaceful and secluded gardens – perfect for genteel strolls.
