Norham

Norham Castle

Pronounced ‘Norrum’ and with a population of 300, Norham is situated on the River Tweed. It was the centre for Norhamshire, a part of Northumberland controlled in medieval times by the Bishop of Durham. Norhamshire was not completely returned to Northumberland until 1844. The ruins of the Bishop's residence, Norham Castle, may still be visited and there is also a Railway Museum at the old station.
