Heddon-on-the-Wall
An attractive village on the outskirts of Newcastle with fast road links to the city via the A69. The village has the best-remaining section of Hadrian's Wall in a village setting (as opposed to open countryside). There is an interesting local Heddon website with excellent pictures of the village and the wall.
