Upton upon Severn

Located in the south of Worcestershire, Upton upon Severn is a haven for boat enthusiasts with the River Severn playing an important role in attracting tourists to the pretty town.  The first recording of the town is in 897 when King Coenwulf mentioned its foundation. It was an important coaching stop and the many Georgian Inns are a testament to this, notably the White Lion, which is said to be the model for parts of Henry Fielding’s ‘Tom Jones’.

Today visitors can take a boat trip up the river or enjoy a leisurely walk along the waterfront.  There are many pubs in the town offering good food and real ales, in the summer months the town comes alive with the variety of events held in the pubs and spread across the town.  There is the Folk Festival in May, the Jazz Festival in June, the Blues Festival in July and the Water Festival in August.
