Stourport-on-Severn

Stourport-on-Severn owes its existence to the construction of the Staffordshire to Worcestershire Canal in the 1760’s and was a thriving port, now it is an inland resort with pleasure boats cruising on the canal, the River Stour and the River Severn, Britain’s longest river.  Water flows through and surrounds the town creating unlimited leisure opportunities like boating, fishing, walking, cycling and much more in the nearby Severn Valley and Wyre Forest.

The Stourport Basins offer a fascinating insight into the history and the present day workings of the canal port with The Clock Warehouse being the focal point now home to Stourport-on-Severn Yacht Club.  The magnificent clock was made by Samuel Thorp in 1813.

Besides enjoying the waterside setting there are various attractions along the riverside including fairground rides, self-drive motor-boats, go-karts, pitch and putt and a bowling alley as well as the Stourport Steamer a large passenger boat.
