Warwick

Historic Warwick is a delightful town in the heart of South Warwickshire. It is best known for its magnificent castle – one of Britain's greatest medieval experience! From the grim dungeon to the towers and ramparts and from preparations for battle to the summer medieval festival, Warwick Castle is no ordinary day out!

And there is much more to see in Warwick itself. The Lord Leycester Hospital, housed in timber-framed buildings dating from the 14th century, is a historic treasure. The Collegiate Church of St Mary’s, where the powerful Earls of Warwick lie entombed in gilded splendour, is also a must.

In the market square, the 17th-century Market Hall houses displays of Warwickshire geology, biology and history. St John’s is a museum of Warwickshire social history and has period reconstructions portraying domestic and school life. Warwick Doll Museum has an impressive collection of dolls as well as antique toys, games and bears!

Warwick is a great centre for antiques with many shops and a regular market. There is also a wide variety of small specialised shops located around the Market Square, Swan Street and Smith Street plus a good selection of pubs, fine restaurants and tearooms.

Must see and do
