Wavertree
A suburb of Liverpool, Wavertree has two claims to fame – it was the birthplace of George Harrison and was also home to England’s smallest house! In 1943, 12 Arnold Grove saw the arrival of baby George, who, even though he left age six, has fond memories: "It was OK that house... Outside there was a little yard... and for a period of time we had a little henhouse where we kept cockerels". Once the subject of numerous picture postcards, 95 High Street, now the right-hand end of a pub, was known as ‘The Smallest House in England'. Just six ft wide, and 14 ft from front to back, it was occupied as a house until 1925.
