Speke

Speke hall

Speke is a suburb of Liverpool where Paul MacCartney was born and grew up and it is where George Harrison moved to when he was 6 years old. Speke is also the location of the rapidly growing Liverpool John Lennon Airport, which was named after the Beatle in 2002 following an opening by HM The Queen and Yoko Ono. The region is also noted for its timber-framed buildings and in Speke Hall stands one of the most outstanding examples in the country. Dating back to 1490, the house is owned by The National Trust and features gardens, woodland walks and, during the summer, a giant garden maze.
