Birkenhead

Birkenhead

Founded in the 12th Century by monks who operated Europe’s first ferry service, Birkenhead is the beating heart of Wirral. The town has many visitor attractions that reflect its rich history and heritage. Key draws are Brikenhead Tramway, which includes a fine Edwardian open-top tram, Birkenhead Priory, a Norman Priory founded in 1150, Birkenhead Park, which was the model for Central Park in New York and Wirral Museum. The Voirrey Embroidery Centre, one of the largest in the country is also nearby.
