Uppermill
This is the largest of the villages in the Saddleworth district. It is located in the valley underneath the Saddleworth Church and in the late 18th Century many wool mills and cotton spinning industries began to spread into the town. Now a popular visitor attraction, Uppermill houses the Saddleworth Museum which is also home to the tourist information centre. Canal boat trips are available and there are also several craft shops, restaurants, public houses and art galleries. There is also a monthly Farmers Market.
