Stockport
Stockport is a former market town on the River Mersey, built by Cheshire gentry, which became an important cotton-spinning and railway centre. The town has an impressive railway viaduct and shopping precinct covering the Mersey. Lyme Hall and Vernon Park Museum are both nearby.
