Saddleworth

Saddleworth countryside

An area of outstanding countryside and expanse of moorland including part of the Peak District National Park. The picturesque stone-built villages of Saddleworth are peppered with old mill buildings and possess a unique Pennine character. The superb scenery of Saddleworth Moor provides an ideal backdrop for walking and outdoor pursuits. Saddleworth is home to the famous Saddleworth Brass Band contest.

The newly-restored Huddersfield narrow canal passes through the Saddleworth countryside before entering the Pennines via the 3-mile long Standedge tunnel.
