Delph

Delph, Harrop Edge

The name Delph originates from the old English for ‘quarry’ and refers to the bakestone quarries which can be found at the lower end of the valley just north of Delph; examples of these bakestones can be found in the nearby Saddleworth Museum. Delph is Ideally situated for walking, especially up to the Roman Fort, which was excavated in the late 80’s. The village has an antique shop, a craft shop and some of the best pubs in the area.
