Coastal Lancashire

Sands and Tower

The Lancashire coast covers around 220 kilometres (137 miles). It provides a diversity of fascinating landscapes and attractions that you would find difficult to surpass elsewhere on the UK coast. Much of the area is of ornithological interest with a wide variety of terrain from the distinctive limestone scenery of Arnside/Silverdale, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, through glazed saltmarshes and agricultural land, the seaside resorts of Morecambe, Blackpool and the Fylde coast as well as the major river estuaries of the Lune, Wyre and Ribble.

Fleetwood boasts a beautiful harbour yacht marina and for sea lovers the Knott End ferry operates through the summer months between the port and Over Wyre.

Further south is Blackpool, the UK's most visited seaside resort. With its magnificent tower that stands 518 feet and nine inches high on Central Promenade and the Pleasure Beach providing 40 acres of fun with breath-taking attractions and world-class shows.

Only in Lancashire can you find a coastline that blends nature, heritage, culture, and fun. The healthy sea-air of this breath-taking County awaits you with open arms.
