Northwich
Northwich in the heart of mid-Cheshire was in Roman times a military station, then became famous for salt mining during the 17th and 18th Centuries, and boasts the country's only salt museum. Today there are many other important industries and the town is a centre for shoppers from the surrounding area, with a modern shopping centre and a number of black and white buildings.
