Malpas

Boats moored by the riverside

Malpas is one of the oldest towns in Cheshire with good timber-framed, old brick buildings. St Oswald's Church, standing next to the site of a motte and bailey castle, has a splendid nave roof of carved oak.

Nearby Cholmondeley Castle overlooks 800 acres of parkland and water gardens. Particularly attractive is the Temple Garden with its rockery, lake and islands.

Malpas is set in the quiet winding lanes of South Cheshire, offering good opportunities for gentle country walks and cycle rides.
