Lowestoft

Seafront Gardens

The town of Lowestoft is situated on the most easterly point in Great Britain and is the first town in Britain to greet the morning sun. Famous for its wonderful stretches of award winning beaches and rich maritime heritage, the town of Lowestoft is a perfect holiday location for the young and the young at heart. It has a successful combination of wide stretches of beach to the one side and wooded broadland to the other, giving the resort an eclectic appeal catering for many thousands of holidaymakers who visit the town each year.

At the heart of Lowestoft visitors can find the recently renovated Yacht Marina and neighbouring docks, together with a Heritage Vessel Mooring with a changing programme of visiting historical craft. The seafront has two piers, the South Pier and Claremont Pier which both have traditional seaside amusements, eating places and distinctive bars.

The town has three distinct shopping centres ranging from national chains to specialist shops. One of the regions largest attractions, New Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park, is located just outside Lowestoft and Suffolk Wildlife Park can also be found within the town.

The story of Lowestoft’s lively and colourful past is told by a collection of museums throughout the town.
