Eye

The first definite evidence of a settlement here dates from Roman times. The Norman castle mound, which dates back to 1156, affords panoramic views of the town and the west tower of the 15th century church is one of the best in the country.

Elsewhere in the town there is a fine guildhall, as well as a delightful theatre and a riverside picnic site. Follow the town trail available from Stowmarket Tourist Information Centre and local shops.
