North Norfolk

On the beach at Wells-next-the-Sea

North Norfolk is easy to reach by road and rail. One Railway operate services between London and Norwich, most of which connect with the Bittern Line out to the North Norfolk Coast. Central Trains offer connecting services from the Midlands, north of England and Scotland via Peterborough, and a direct service is now operating from Cambridge to Norwich making the North Norfolk Coast even more accessible.

The character of North Norfolk is emphasised by the houses, cottages and churches, many of which are built in the local flint. Over the centuries its coastal towns have grown from small, isolated fishing communities into bustling seaside resorts, but you can still see the crab fishing boats putting out to sea and the lifeboats still proudly manned.

The Norfolk Broads is Britain’s largest protected wetland and, with 125 miles of navigable waterways, a popular destination for boating holidaymakers. Much can also be seen by taking a short walk along the riverbanks. Hoveton and Stalham are ideal gateways to the Broads. From here you can hire a craft for a holiday, a short break or just for the day
