Downham Market
Dating back to Saxon times, this small hillside settlement is one of Norfolk´s oldest market towns and a good base from which to explore. Lying on the edge of the Fens, Downham Market is noted for its 19th century black and white clock tower and local carrstone buildings, some showing a Dutch influence. There is a 15th century church with an unusual spire, a range of individual shops and a bustling market that’s held on Fridays and Saturdays.
