Diss
South Norfolk is special and has much to offer the visitor whatever their interest! Set amidst unspoilt countryside, the bustling yet uncongested historic market town of Diss is the setting for an excellent museum, shops and restaurants. The town has a colourful weekly market on Fridays in the market place and a host of speciality shops. Diss offers the visitor a charming ambience with its half-timbered buildings and jettied upper storeys. The overall character of this historic town stems from the Georgian and early to mid-Victorian periods. The six acre mere attracts many forms of wildlife and is particularly well known for its many types of ducks, geese and wildfowl. There is a tourist information centre situated at Mere’s Mouth, which is open all year and can give great advice on where to stay and what to see and do in and around Diss.
