Letchworth

Letchworth Garden City

Acclaimed throughout the world as the ‘home’ of town planning, Letchworth Garden City is a special place with lots on offer for visitors.

Situated just 24 miles west of Cambridge, by car it’s on the Kings Cross railway line to Cambridge, Peterborough and Kings Lynn.

On arrival, visit the tourist information centre, a few minutes’ walk from the town centre based railway station. You’ll find many unusual speciality shops too. There’s a feast of eateries, wide, open pavements and a shop-mobility service for less mobile visitors.

Meet the founder of Garden Cities, Ebenezer Howard, at the First Garden City Heritage Museum and discover why his ideas for perfect planned communities were replicated across the globe. See the latest blockbuster movies in the independent Broadway Cinema, tastefully refurbished in recent years.

Discover Standalone Farm, one of the region’s top farm attractions, with its many and varied four-legged residents, 170-acres of farmland, café, souvenirs, free parking and entrance onto the 13-mile Greenway, a pedestrian route around Letchworth.

In keeping with the spirit of Letchworth’s pioneers, to this day, profits from the 5,500-acre property Estate fund a wide range of community and charitable amenities. Quite simply, Letchworth Garden City is unique. See for yourself.
