Bishop's Stortford
The ancient market town of Bishop's Stortford is superbly situated in rural Hertfordshire, on the Essex county border. It is a modern lively town with a long and varied history. There is much to see in the town - a rich collection of 16th and 17th-century buildings in the centre, including several of the old inns made famous when the town was an important staging post on the route between London and both Newmarket and Cambridge. The River Stort, running through the town centre, provides leisurely activities and is popular with walkers, anglers and visiting narrow-boats.
Situated between London and Cambridge, Bishop's Stortford is an excellent base from which to easily explore the area. The superb road and rail links make access to all areas of Great Britain easy.
