Baldock

Baldock, Hertfordshire

An important Iron Age/Roman settlement, whose borough was founded in 1250 by the Knights Templar. The town gained importance in the coaching era when it was the first main stop on the Great North Road out of London. It has retained much of its old-world charm, with handsome 16 to 18th century buildings. The town´s greatest feature is St. Mary´s Church tower.
