But the real blockbusters this year have got to be Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs in November – venue to be announced; The First Emperor: China’s Terracotta Army at the British Museum from 13 September; the musical production of The Lord of the Rings, which comes to the West End; Ice Station Antartica at the Natural History Museum in May; Surreal Things: Surrealism and Design from 29 March at the V&A; London’s Burning: the Great Fire of London 1666 which opens in March at the Museum of London; and a wonderful production of Swan Lake at the Royal Albert Hall this June.

Superstar stadiums

Scissor Sisters

In its previous incarnation, the O2 starred in the James Bond film, The World is Not Enough. And its new guise promises to be equally as dramatic. Live concerts by Justin Timberlake and flamboyant disco superstars Scissor Sisters will certainly put Europe’s ultimate entertainment venue on the map.  This year also sees the stunning new Wembley Stadium open. And at Twickenham Stadium, the South Stand will be a welcome addition to the home of rugby.
