To search our database of attractions and events and plan a day out, follow these simple steps.
Go to the What to See and Do section of the Enjoy England homepage – situated below the image carousel and then click on What's Near You?
1. Enter the name of your town or postcode in the text box. You can search for every county, city, town and village in England, plus many wider tourism areas.
Choose how far away from the location you have entered that you wish to show results for. You can select a search radius of 1, 3, 5 or 10 miles. Click on the black arrow that appears to the right of the text box.
2. Your search results may show more than one place in England with the location name you are searching for.
To select the correct location you can either:
• Select a location from the drop-down menu above the map display (whereby the page will automatically update to display this particular location as a map icon).
• Select a location from one of the map icons displayed (When you click on an icon a small pop-up will appear, click on the location link to view the results for that area).
3. Once you have selected the right location, your search results will show a map of the location you have searched for with icons representing attractions and events for that area. Hover over an icon to find out what it is.
4. On the left hand side of the page, you can narrow down your search by selecting the tick box of various options (free admission, café/restaurant, picnic site, indoor attraction, car parking).
5. There are two ways to display your search results:
• Display on map: Your search results are shown as icons on a map - click on an icon for more information.
• Display as list: Your search results are listed as the most relevant to your search criteria.
6. Select one of the display criteria and then click on the Submit button to search.
Refine Results:
The search results screen displays up to 100 records that meet your search criteria. If there are more than 100 results, the database returns a random selection of these. You can alter how many results are displayed on each page by clicking on the Results per page: drop-down menu.
You can refine a search by selecting an option or criteria as the above, such as accommodation type or quality rating. If your search returned more than 100 results, the refined search will re-query the entire database, not just the 100 returned results.
Sort Results:
The results of your search are displayed in random order. You can sort the results by selecting an option in the Sort Results drop-down list. You can sort results by Proximity, Price (ascending), Price (descending), Rating (ascending), and Rating (descending).
Show on Map:
You can view location in Map, Satellite or Hybrid format. Just click on the button to select the desired format.
