BY GEORGE! GREAT FOOD AND DRINK ARE THE TOP INGREDIENTS FOR A PERFECT ENGLISH DAY

Monday 23rd April

Indulging in great food and drink is the essence of the perfect English day in the eyes of the British.

ndulging in great food and drink is the essence of the perfect English day in the eyes of the British, according to a survey conducted by Enjoy England.

The survey, timed to coincide with celebrating St George’s Day on Monday 23 April, discovered over 50 per cent of people consider their perfect English day revolves around food and drink, from a picnic in the park to a relaxing cup of tea. Entrants also had the opportunity to win a perfect English holiday, as the first 50 entrants won a 4-night break offered by Haven & British Holidays.

Lazy strolls in sun drenched countryside, or the feeling of sand between toes in brisk sea air comprised 30 percent of the votes. In third position, 20 percent thought their perfect English day should involve family and friends.

Fish and chips washed down with local ale reign supreme over throwing a frisbee with friends, according to our Anglophiles.
