Indiana Jones adventure holidays - Boreatton Park, Shrewsbury

In the run-up to the new film launch for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, PGL have launched their 'Indiana Jones' themed breaks at the Boreatton Park adventure centre in Shropshire. During the holiday, youngsters will have to show daring and initiative to solve mystery clues to find Pharoah’s Pyramid Puzzle!

Lincolnshire loves Literature - Various venues, Lincoln

Launching a feast of literature best-selling authors including Louis de Bernieres, Iain Banks, Nigel Rees and Steven Berkoff, the Lincoln Book Festival also celebrates its fifth birthday, with over 70 events for book lovers of all ages, including plenty of activities specially designed for children.

Plymouth Summer Festival - Various venues, Plymouth
May through until the end of August
The Plymouth Summer Festival plays host to a diverse range of events. The world famous Transat Race acts as the curtain raiser to the whole festival on 11th May 2008. The festival brings together under one banner the vast range of maritime, music, arts and street events taking place in Plymouth over the summer months.

Haworth 1940s Weekend - Main St, Haworth, Yorkshire
17-18 May
Thousands of Home Guard enthusiasts carrying kitbags are due to march into the Yorkshire village of Haworth, 19th century home of the Bronte sisters, to turn the clocks back to the 1940s in May. Air raid sirens, ration books, utility suits, sandbags, regular troops and the Home Guard will all be in evidence on the steep cobbled main road of the village.

The Salisbury International Arts Festival is a festival of performing arts that takes place in the city of Salisbury, England over three weeks at the end of May and in early June. For hundreds of years the Gloucestershire Cheese Rolling has been taking place on a steep hillside in the English countryside. Initially held at midsummer, the event now takes place on May Bank Holiday Monday.

Bristol Shakespeare Festival - Various parks around Bristol

The largest open air Shakespeare Festival in the UK. Last year, over 8,000 people attended productions in the heart of historic Bristol. As part of the festival, a variety of open air productions will take place across city parks during the summer months. Bring a picnic, sit back and enjoy the performance.
