Where to stay

Where to stay

VisitEngland no longer features a comprehensive selection of accommodation on this website. However, there is a wealth of sites to help you with your search...

We’ve also asked our VisitEngland Quality Assessors to pick out some favourite places to stay, from farms, cottages, castles and glamping to luxury accommodation, boats, and unique and boutique places to stay.

Accommodation search

Choose from well-known hotel brands or third-party sites such as Booking.com and Laterooms.com , which hold information on a comprehensive selection of both chain and independent hotels throughout England.

Some sites, such as Roomcheck and toprooms.com have a large selection of smaller guest accommodation and bed and breakfast accommodation (as well as some self catering).

Quality accommodation

VisitEngland star ratings

Our 50-strong team of inspectors quality assess and award star ratings to more than 22,000 accommodation businesses in England every year.  In hotels and B&Bs that means staying overnight to test all the services and facilities. For accommodation in all schemes, you will find that more stars reflect a higher quality of accommodation.

Quality in Tourism

If you want to check the validity of a VisitEngland star rating then Quality in Tourism, who provide an accommodation inspection service on behalf of VisitEngland, has a service where visitors can check the validity of VisitEngland star ratings searchable by location or property name.
