Burton Constable Hall

Burton Constable Hall
Type : Historic Site
Location : Withernsea

One of the most fascinating country houses, Burton Constable is a large Elizabethan mansion set in a 300-acre park with nearly 30 rooms open. The interiors of faded splendour are filled with fine furniture, paintings and sculpture, a library of 5000 books and a remarkable 18thC 'cabinet of curiosities'. Ocupied by the Constable family for over 400 years, the house still maintains the atmosphere of a home.

Take refreshments in our newly refurbished Tea Room or bring your own picnic and relax on the lawns and play draughts or croquet by the Orangery. Or for the more energetic, why not take advantage of our free to use Parkland Experience Packs (complete with bug collector, magnifying glass, binoculars and orienteering map) and explore our magnificent parkland, pastures and wild fowl lakes and look for the numerous birds, animals and creepy-crawly 'minibeasts' that inhabit the park.

Whatever you decide, a morning visit to the historic market town of Beverley or the seaside resort of Hornsea with its designer village, followed by an afternoon at Burton Constable Hall will ensure a great day out for all the family. You could even complete your day by taking an early evening meal in one of the three excellent local pubs situated within 3 miles of Burton Constable Hall.
