Museum of Army Flying

Museum of Army Flying
Type : Museum
Location : Stockbridge

A genuine surprise of a museum, celebrating over 100 years of flying achievement, portrayed in graphic detail from the early pioneer days of experimental flying to today's modern Army Air Corps. Over 35 fixed-wing and rotary aircraft on display, including the largest collection of military gliders in Europe.

Two shooting galleries, one rifle the other anti tank, and a flight simulator are popular with visitors, as is No 7 Rose Terrace, a 1940's house and garden. A new extension to the museum opens in 2008.

Right beside the great grass Battle of Britain airfield at Middle Wallop on the A343, there is a cafe with airfield views; shop; cinema and outdoor picnic area. Disabled access and plenty of parking too.

The Museum of Army Flying is available for corporate events and private hire. A conference room holds up to 60, the Hayward Hall and new extension can comfortably seat up to 500 for a dinner and dance, 600 for lectures and seminars. It is a popular venue for exhibitions, fairs, concerts and exhibitions.
