Stansted Park

Stansted Park
Type : Historic House/Palace
Location : Rowlands Castle

'One of the south's beautiful stately homes' Stansted Park lies on the borders of Hampshire and West Sussex set in hundreds of acres of park and woodland with one of the longest beech avenues in Great Britain, a sunny walled garden and a newly planted sensory garden. Stansted House is a perfect example of a country estate in Edwardian times. The mansion rooms contain the furniture and portraits of the Bessborough family and a collection of ornithological paintings. The fully restored servants quarters give fascinating insignt into life below stairs, from the Butler's account books to the well stocked linen cupboards. On Bank Holidays the Stewards dress in period costume and with their detailed knowledge of servants lives greatly enhance the visitors experience of Stansted. Group and educational visits can be arranged throughout the year. A varied annual events programme includes the Garden Show, the Stansted Proms and open air theatre. The Pavillion Tearoom and the Stansted Park Garden Centre are open all year and the Stansted Light Railway is open from Easter to the end of September.
