The heritage display traces the history and development of the RNLI from its foundation in 1824 to the present day. A selection of paintings, photographs, lifeboat models and other objects take the visitor through the days of sails and oars to today's sophisticated engine-powered lifeboats. Many tales of heroism throughout the ages are recounted. As a charity the RNLI could not exist without fundraising and some of the numerous ways in which money has been collected over the years are shown.
