Unique 18thC flour mill standing on the 'Isle' of Wedmore, a ridge giving commanding views of the Cheddar Gorge, Somerset Levels and Brent Knoll, and the only complete windmill left in Somerset. Mention is made of the mill on this elevated site as far back as c1317. A straight-sided construction, the windmill is girded by 3 iron hoops, added by the last miller, John Stevens, to ensure that the sails ran true. It was restored to working condition inc1958, with renovations carried out in c1979 by the Dorothea Restoration Engineers. Now opened by volunteers.
