Tate Modern is Britain’s national gallery of international modern art. Created in the year 2000 from the disused former Bankside Power Station, on the banks of the River Thames, the Gallery displays the world famous Tate collection of international modern and contemporary art, including important masterpieces by Matisse, Picasso, Dalí, Magritte, Mirò, Pollock, Rothko and Warhol. Tate Modern also holds significant contemporary works by world-wide acclaimed artists Gilbert & George, Ofili, Barney and Richter.
