Piece Hall Art Gallery

Piece Hall Art Gallery
Type : Gallery
Location : Halifax

The gallery is situated in the Piece Hall, an historic Cloth Hall built in 1779. The space is constructed from a series of original units, creating an intimate, yet warm and inviting succession of interlinking gallery spaces.

The gallery has recently been subdivided into two very different exhibition spaces, on one side there is a Community Exhibition Gallery and on the other there is the main Piece Hall Gallery.

The Community Exhibition Space offers exciting opportunities not only to developing contemporary artists from the local area, but also to a diverse range of community groups and schools. Calderdale has a wealth of creative talent and through a rich and varied programme of temporary exhibitions this creativity is reflected.

The aim of the main gallery is to maintain a strong focus on promoting the work of significant contemporary artists, both as individuals and groups, while also drawing on the rich collections of Calderdale's Libraries, Museums & Arts Service to reflect the very diverse history and heritage of the area.
