Tamar Valley Donkey Park

Tamar Valley Donkey Park
Type : Animal Collection
Location : Gunnislake

The Donkey Park is Cornwall’s only donkey sanctuary situated in beautiful Cornish countryside, overlooking the Tamar Valley with views to Plymouth Sound, between Gunnislake and Callington. It is the home to 30 donkeys, over 25 goats, ponies, sheep, pigs, rabbits and more. Visitors are able to feed and pet the friendly animals. The Donkey Drop-In all weather play barn, provides indoor play and covered donkey rides for wet weather days.

The oldest donkey looked after by the sanctuary is a white donkey named Bridget who is 47 years old. She roams the park freely and is a great favourite with the visitors, whom she follows until she has eaten all their carrots!

The sanctuary survives only by the entry charge and the Adopt-a-Donkey scheme. Each child entry ticket includes a free donkey ride. Only 3 miles from Callington, 20 minutes from the Tamar Bridge and 30 minutes from Looe with outdoor and indoor play, a café, a picnic area and a gift shop; a visit to the park makes an enjoyable day out for children and adults alike.
