An 18th-20thC fort with guns and gun emplacements, overlooking the River Thames. There is an extensive underground magazine complex containing restored ammunition storage chambers and an exhibition on Gravesend under World War II aerial bombardment which includes full-size bomb shelters. General Gordon of Khartoum was stationed at the Fort and started the ragged schools in the area.
