Dover Castle and Secret Wartime Tunnels
Type : Castle/Fort
Location : Dover
Standing high on the famous White Cliffs, Dover Castle has an inner bailey and curtain walls, a great keep, medieval to Victorian earthworks and underground works. The Roman Pharos and Saxon church of St Mary-in-Castro stand in the grounds. Secret wartime tunnels provide an interesting tour in the cliffs and were Vice-Admiral Ramsay's headquarters. There is also an exhibition about the evacuation from Dunkerque, a communications room and World War II underground hospital.
