Cusworth Hall is an imposing 18th century country house set in extensive landscaped parklands, once home to the Battie-Wrightson family. The Grade 1 listed house is deemed a site of special interest due to the preservation of all elements of a Georgian country house. It houses displays on the history of Doncaster and its people.
Following a major grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund and Doncaster Council, the Hall and Park have recently undergone a major refurbishment programme: roofs on the buildings have been replaced and stonework repaired. In the chapel, ceiling paintings which have not been seen for 50 years have been revealed by painstaking conservation.
This is a family museum with a lively programme of changing exhibitions, events and activities. Special educational facilities are available. Group visits are welcome, with coach parking available within the car park. Group organisers should notify the Hall of any intended visits.
