The largest of Henry VIII's series of coastal defences, Deal Castle was built c1540 in Tudor rose shape and restored after World War II. There are still cannons on the battlements, 119 gun positions and a gatehouse. The keep has an exhibition of photographs and prints whilst the basement has exhibitions about coastal defences.
