For 600 years the English Heritage Dartmouth Castle has stood in a sperb waterfront setting at the narrow entrance to the Dart estuary. Its gun tower was probably the first in England purpose built to mount heavy cannon. See these guns today and imagine the strength of a counter attack as they fired across the water.

Today you can enjoy tales of the castle as you journey through time from the Tudor period and the Civil War to World War Two. To make it a full day out, why not take a boat trip from the quayside at Dartmouth, which lands you just a short walk from the castle entrance.
