The Moors National Park Centre
Type : Heritage/Visitor Centre
Location : Danby
Located in the village of Danby, The Moors National Park Centre is at the very heart of the beautiful moorland of the North York Moors and is the perfect place to start any visit to the National Park.
Not only does the Centre boast one of only a handful of Timber Tangle climbing frames in the country, but a new indoor play area and climbing wall make it a great all year, all weather venue for families.
An interactive exhibition at the Centre includes a stunning audio visual experience and plenty of hands on interactives to help explain the natural history, archaeology and people of the moors. The Inspired by Gallery, framed by its beautiful untreated oak beams, has displays on the range of arts and crafts available within the National Park and also plays host to visiting contemporary artists on a regular basis.
There are accessible wildlife and riverside trails around the grounds and plenty of seating if you want to just sit and soak up the fantastic views across the Esk Valley. There is an Information Centre to help you plan what to see and do on your visit and a shop full of books, arts and crafts, children’s toys and outdoor clothing. A tasty café is also on site serving locally produced food and drink.
