The Arkwright Society is in the process of restoring the world's first successful water-powered cotton spinning mill built by Richard Arkwright in 1771. There is an interpretive exhibition, a Wholefood restaurant, a tuck shop and 4 shops and guided tours are available daily. Cromford Mill is part of the Derwent Valley World Heritage site.
