The Priory Inn

The Priory Inn
Type : Small Hotel
Location : Tetbury

Converted from the stable block of an ancient priory, The Priory Inn was lovingly and extensively refurbished by the new private owners in 2004 to provide a stylish and chic environment in which to unwind, within this Cotswold period building. The popular gastro pub boasts an enormous ‘walk around’ open fire, which is a particularly cheery sight on a chilly English evening. Equally welcoming is the wide range of real ales and mouth-watering dishes focussed on local produce, as well as organic pizzas and flat breads from the wood-fired oven. Alternatively, sink into a leather sofa and enjoy a frothy hot chocolate or cappuccino while you read the papers or surf the web in the Priory Coffee Bar. If you choose to stay at the Priory Inn, you will benefit from the beautifully furnished renovations in all of the 14 en-suite rooms. The rooms reflect the owners’ passionately held belief that contemporary décor should be beautifully stylish but wonderfully comfortable. The colour palette is simple: chocolates, mochas and creams. The furnishings are handcrafted locally in dark walnut wood and the fluffy duvets and Egyptian cotton sheets are especially inviting after a tiring day exploring the famous local antique shops. Most importantly, The Priory Inn prides itself on the personal and friendly touch of its dedicated local team, committed to ensuring that each of its guests enjoys the highest quality of service in every area of the hotel and is treated to the very best that Cotswold has to offer. The Priory Inn is located in the heart of the delightful country town of Tetbury, which is only a stones’ throw from its renowned antique shops and architectural charms, and a short drive from Prince Charles’ private country residence, Highgrove. The Priory Inn chefs will be happy to prepare you a picnic, including local cheeses and home-baked bread, to take with you should you wish to explore the area. Local attractions include: Westonbirt Arboretum – one of the finest tree collections in the world in 600 acres, a true spectacle all season. Chavenage House – a historic Elizabethan house, which has featured in many films and has been used by the BBC. Fabulous walking country – we are close to national trails such as The Cotswolds Way, Monarch’s Way and The Thames Path, which you can follow from its source back to London! The Royal connection – Highgrove House – private residence of The Prince of Wales and home for William and Harry, and Gatcombe Park where Princess Anne lives, is surrounded by beautiful parkland and is within walking distance of Minchinhampton village centre. The World Heritage City of Royal Bath – with the best-preserved Roman religious spa from the ancient world – as well as fabulous shopping!
