The Horse and Farrier Inn is situated in the picturesque village of Threlkeld located just 4 miles east of Keswick, it is ideally located for walking with many different routes starting from the village. We also have 6 different mountain walks with maps provided at the inn. Details can be found on our walks page of our website.

Built in 1688, we are a traditional Lakeland inn with slate-flagged floors, beamed ceilings and open fires retaining all the character you would expect from a 16thC inn. We are renowned locally and regularly mentioned in numerous food and ale guide books. Sitting beneath Blencathra the views from both bedrooms and garden areas are magnificent of Clough Head and the Blencathra Range.

Under the ownership of Ian Court, we are committed to serving food and drink of excellent quality, amidst informal, attractive surroundings, where our customers can feel totally relaxed.

Our comfortable guest rooms with amazing views and excellent facilities makes this the perfect place for a weekend, away from it all. We have received numerous accolades by many leading guide books.

We have ample car parking at both the front and side of the inn, together with a large beer garden with magnificent views. There is also excellent wheelchair access, disabled toilet and baby changing facilities.

We serve good food from our hearty Lakeland breakfast to our home-cooked meals which are served in our intimate restaurant or in the bar. Our menus are interesting and varied. Dishes make full use of seasonal and local produce and are freshly prepared in our gleaming kitchen, an ever growing number of regular diners are testament to the kitchen team's abilities. Vegetarians are also well catered for with a large selction of vegetarian options available on the menu.

We have 9 well-appointed guest bedrooms, all with excellent views but each with a slightly different perspective on the local countryside. All rooms are en suite with either a bath and/or shower. Colour TV, tea/coffee making facilites are standard. Comprising a mixture of twins, doubles and singles, rooms. We have the flexibility to offer super-king beds, twin beds and doubles.
