Type : Guest House
Location : Haworth
Haworth is the picturesque Yorkshire moorland village that was home, 150 years ago, to England's most celebrated literary family, the Brontes. Ashmount was the home of Charlotte Bronte's physician, Dr Amos Ingham.
The house was built in 1870 and all its original gothic decorative features are intact. The mosaic tiled floor of the entrance hall, the elaborately molded ceilings and the stained glass windows. Most of the furnishings too are Victorian and Ashmount has the English Tourist Council's prestigious Silver Award for exceptional standards of accommodation and service. Although the house is only 3 minutes walk from the village centre, the Bronte Parsonage Museum and a good range of restaurants and pubs, it occupies a very private position in half an acre of garden with outstanding views over the Moors.
All eight guest bedrooms at Ashmount have their own private bathrooms. We have three ground floor rooms, three four poster rooms of which seven ensuite, one with private bath. All the rooms have self controlled central heating, colour TV, tea and coffee making facilities. There is ample parking space for visitors' cars, well out of sight of the road.
Victorian gothic villa with historic connections, beautiful garden and panoramic views. 3 minutes walk from the village. Good restaurants and pubs within 3 minutes walk. Excellent base for West Yorkshire and the Dales.
